About
The energy digitisation and transition has emerged as a major driver of the Indian Infrastructure story, with renewed interest from global investors and a broadening of the asset base – from the traditional solar parks and transmission lines to next-gen technologies such as smart grids. The move toward more novel asset plays is best seen through GIC’s targeted USD 2bn Singapore based smart meter platform which is one of the early forays from a global investor into basic building blocks for a successful green transition – i.e., smart grids.
Just as the asset base for infra has been expanding, the investment strategies have adapted as well. The light touch regulated infrastructure investment trusts, with an efficient tax structure – that was first bought in as a way to crowd-in capital from yield investors is now also seen as a growth play – with M&A and greenfield activity picking up, a coming-of-age moment for these investment vehicles.
In this event, we will explore the energy transition story, the larger Indian Infrastructure story and the role that InvITs can play as growth and monetization vehicles.
