Overview

Ruchir has extensive experience advising global corporations, financial sponsors and large sovereign wealth / pension funds on their investments into India, with specialism in private equity, M&A and structured finance. With a strong background in tax, he has structured and lead several high profile deals in cross border M&A, private equity (including buy-outs) and private credit, and set up offshore and domestic investment funds and investment platforms. Designed and implemented pioneering innovative tax optimal structures several of which were recognised as most innovative by Financial Times of London, including in 2024.

He focuses on investments primarily in financial services (BFSI), technology and real assets (real estate, infrastructure and manufacturing) sectors. He was closely involved with the SEBI in the drafting of the Indian REIT Regulations and structuring the first unlisted InvIT (a regulated infrastructure fund).

Ruchir co-chairs Asia Pacific Real Assets Association (Infrastructure and InvITs committee) in India and has been closely involved in the development of the SEBI REIT and InvIT Regulations. Prior to setting up Resolüt Partners, Ruchir co-headed the corporate transactions group at Nishith Desai Associates, where he worked for 14 years.

He is also the recipient of the prestigious IBA Young Lawyer Scholarship at Vancouver (2009) for his paper on structured finance and an elected member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), London.

  • Advised Cintra INR Investments BV, a subsidiary of Ferrovial S.A., Europe’s largest infrastructure groups in their investment in IRB Infrastructure Developers Limited (~USD 430 mn)
  • Advised GIC Singapore on their pre-IPO investment in Star Health
  • Advised GSO Partners (now Blackstone Credit) in the 100% sale of Mgage to Tanla Solutions against a swap of listed shares
  • Advised Mapletree Investment Pte. Ltd. in the buy-out of SP Infocity from CPPIB and Shapoorji Pallonji Group (~SGD 500 mn)
  • Advised GIC Singapore on their co-investment into the IndiGrid InvIT with KKR
